Continuous Process Systems – Indexing Machines

Our continuous process machines are designed for higher volume production requirements, offering cycle times 5-6 times faster than batch process machines. This means that cycles are reduced to just 45 - 60 seconds per tray. Cycle times are dependent on product, not machine size.

Continuous process machines use the same size trays as batch process machines, thus allowing easy up-scaling of production with minimal tooling changes. 

The process itself is simple: trays are fed in at one end, passed through the machine and are fed out at the far end. A positive index system ensures that the trays are always in the correct position. As the trays exit the machine, the used film is discarded for environmental recycling and finished parts are removed. The trays are then reused; loaded with new components and film, then fed back into the machine. Recirculation of trays ensures even colours throughout the day.

There are multiple continuous process systems operating in Korea, China, USA, UK and Japan.

Which machine do I need?

Whichever model or style you choose, all of our machines use removable vacuum trays (see below for size details). Your components need to fit into trays with enough space between and around the edges to allow the film to form. For guidance, whatever the size or shape of the components, allow 2.5 X the component printed section height as the minimum spacing between the components and the edges of the vacuum tray. This means that flat components can be virtually butted together, whereas deeper parts would need more space around them. If you're ever in doubt, you can always just ask us!

Recirculating Buffer Feed System

  • The recirculation system allows efficient recirculation of the vacuum trays.
  • As trays are discharged from the machine, they are rotated 180 degrees (either manually or, as an option, automatically.)
  • Trays are pushed to the "Parts Unload" section where film is stripped and parts removed.
  • The trays are then reloaded and moved to the feed section where 2 trays can be queued ready to be automatically loaded back into the machine.
  • The recirculating buffer feed system is available for all models.
